Crazy Feet

So I headed to the DR. this morning to get an update on my blood work and discuss my crappy ankle. Well blood work was stellar I am perfectly healthy. Thankfully, he heard my weight loss cry and has prescribed me an appetite suppressant. Just until I get down to a healthy weight for my height. I am excited to combine my workouts with new diet and a helpful pill.

So for the ankle he said to start with getting fitted for new "correct" running shoes and an anti-inflammatory. So now armed with a new pair of Saucony progrid stabil cs wides and a new holder for the nike+ I am ready to get back to running. I plan on taking it easy this week to let me ankle heal a little more and then hopefully another nice long run!!

Apparently, according to Peggy the nice lady at holidbird sports I roll my ankles inward. In addition because of my wide feet and the rolling ankles my feet give the image of having high arches when tested but actually roll inward so much they are flat. I love being weird. So I highly recommend that everyone get fitted for running shoes and go to holibird sports they really do have the BEST prices!!

8 mies

So Saturday was a great day. I finally met the BWI loopers at the NCR trail. After my usual 3 miles I decided to push myself and I did a full 8 miles. I was wogging for most of it but 8 miles is 8 miles.
The downside to the achievement is it really messed up my ankle. It has been weird since I began running but everything pointed to weak ankles. But this run really took its toll. So I've got it wrapped in a brace and I'm gonna talk to the doctor about it today. I'm also heading to Charm City Run at some point to check out my shoes and get some things figured out.

I signed up for the Celtic Solstice 5-miler yesterday. It is in December and I'm really looking forward to it. It might be my first real race depending on what the DR. says. I'd like to do the MC 10K but I'm afraid I am not fast enough to keep up quite yet, so we'll see.

Updates to follow.

Stupid Cold

Just when I get back into the swing of things I get knocked down by this crazy head cold. I think running might not be the best idea right now, boo!

I think I may have weak ankles. I'm going to talk to the doctor about it next week when I am there but when I run there is a tight kind of pain in the area of my left ankle. I might try ankle weights to see if that can strengthen them a bit, we will see how it goes.

My last run was 1.66 miles at 18 minutes per mile. Which is slightly because of my ankle starting to hurt about 3/4 of the way into it so I walked the last like 10 minutes. I really want to get up to 15 minutes a mile. I am way to much of an instant gratification kind of person.

I really am disliking my morning route. Hopefully when we move I can find a better route to take! I may head over to the college loop on wed and give running that a whirl but I don't really live in a trail type area. So I primarily run on the sidewalk which all readings and books say is a no no. Maybe I will go try the track at the college gym??
